Makerspace Organization Hacks
A year and a half into the new Makerspace, many organizational improvements have been made, such as:
- The Thread Farm
I drilled holes in a piece of junk wood and cut dowels to 4" each. Then, I stuck the dowels in the wood and organized the thread by color. Now it’s SATISFYING to put thread away.

2. The Fabric Organizer
I was inspired by department stores with this one. Say goodbye to piles and hello to hangers.

3. Screwdriver Slots
They used to be organized by length and that could happen again someday :) But regardless, it’s way better than how they were thrown into a bin before.

4. Pegboard Hooks + Cups
My life became much better when I started putting tools with natural holes onto hooks as much as possible and long thin items like pencils in cups.

The key to avoiding overflowing bins is to use customized organizers that require the user to put the tool or item back in a neat way. Hooray.
